Why We Do It
Oral health impacts the overall physical and mental health of a person. Unfortunately, our country’s veterans often experience oral health issues due to the lack of access to general dental care and needed oral procedures. Veterans living in poverty are even more likely to experience oral health issues.
Poor dental health means living every day with chronic pain or infection – which leads to a declining state of systemic health, low self-esteem, loss of confidence, and depression.
There are many barriers that get in the way – like cost, lack of insurance, and fear. Unfortunately, one of the biggest challenges for the majority of U.S. veterans is that they are not eligible for dental benefits through the Veterans Administration unless 100% disabled, prisoner of war or whose condition or dental disability is a service-related mouth injury.
Our veterans have given so much for our nation, SMILES for Your Service is honored to give back to them through this service. We offer a limited number of applications to receive needed dental health services – such as the permanent All-on-4 – to those veterans who otherwise cannot afford it.
This is why our approach of SERVING THOSE WHO SERVED US is so transformative. SMILES for Your Service benefits the veteran and their family – and allows them the health and self-confidence to participate in life again.
